Street Numbering and Naming

Street naming and numbering is a statutory function of the local authority. The Towns Improvement Clauses Act 1847  ensures that local authorities shall cause houses , buildings and streets  to be marked with numbers as they feel fit , and enables the authority to tell occupier's to mark their buildings with numbers and renew them if they become obliterated or defaced.
