School admissions

In law, children must start school at the term after their fifth birthday. In Portsmouth, most children start school age four and you must contact your local school who will have details regarding registration. However, if you are moving to Portsmouth you are required to contact the Schools Admissions Team at the Civic Offices who will be able to provide you with information on the schools in the area. If the Authority is unable to offer you a place at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal , but you may only appeal where you have been refused admission to the school in writing.
