Rights Of Way

Portsmouth City Council is responsible for ensuring that Rights of Way are free from obstruction and that the surface is in a fit condition for its intended use; signposting and marking Rights of Way, providing and maintaining stiles and gates as necessary.  Also, as far as is practical under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, removing rubbish and litter from footpaths.  Undertaking all diversions or extinguishments, (for Rights of Way that are affected by development for which permission has been granted), that are required under the Town and Country Planning Act for 1990.
