Gritting (Roads and Paths)

As a local authority we are responsible for the gritting of primary  ( hospital routes) and secondary roads within the city when weather conditions may prove hazardous (i.e. snow). We may also provide grit bins for public use on roads and pavements in potentially dangerous areas.
Throughout the year we muse  the latest technology to monitor and predict the weather. We use forecasts from two Meteorological Offices alongside information from roadside sensors to help us decide when roads should be treated.
