Portsmouth City Council City Crest

Allotments

There are 1,441 allotment plots on 10 sites across the city and plots are usually 5 or 10 rods in size. A 10 rod plot is about 25 by 10 metres or 250m2,  which includes one pathway. Most sites have a variety of each size to suit all requirements. Rental costs for an allotment are very modest and based on the size of the individual plot. When you are offered a plot you will be required to sign a simple tenancy agreement, which sets out your rights and responsibilities. You will be expected to keep your plot cultivated and tidy.

FAQ

Q : Is ther a waiting list to rent an allotment ?

A : This is often dependant on the size of your chosen allotment site.  When you enquire about your preferred plot, if it is currently unavailable you will be offered an alternative at the same or a nearby site, alternatively your details can be entered on a waiting list.
