Portsmouth City Council City Crest

Cycling

Portsmouth is ideally suited to cycling with its flat roads and cycle paths. Cycling levels in Portsmouth are higher than in many other cities in the UK, with over 7% of city residents cycling to work according to the 2001 census. The Road Safety Team provides various forms of support for cyclists in the city. Cycle proficiency courses are available to children aged 10 and over, volunteers can be trained to give cycle proficiency courses, plus we have a range of cycle products to help keep you safe whilst cycling around the city. The reduction of road casualties is always an important priority for us. Through road safety education, training, publicity, engineering projects, and effective traffic management we are endeavouring to achieve a safer road network for the people of Portsmouth.
