Council Housing

Council housing is a form of public housing in the UK and the homes are built and operated by local councils for the benefit of the local population. As of 2005, approximately 20 percent of the country's housing stock is owned by local councils, or by housing associations. The Community Housing Service which forms part of the Health, Housing and Social Care Directorate, incorporates Housing Options, Private Sector Housing, Supporting People, Community Initiatives and Community Alarm services. If you have any questions or queries regarding Council properties you should contact either your local area office or Housing Options, which is located within the Civic Offices.
