Portsmouth Centre for Enterprise

University of Portsmouth The Portsmouth Centre for Enterprise (PCE) was founded in July 2000 to inspire University of Portsmouth students to learn and develop their entrepreneurial ideas by acquiring enterprise skills and experience.

The centre offers a range of courses and services to students who are looking to start their own business. These offers include:

  • Enterprise Challenge: any idea in innovation, design or business to get continuous support from the Centre
  • Personal Support: free and confidential support & expertise provided at any stage of your idea development
  • Business Development Units: low cost office space for those wanting to establish and develop their business to the point of trading
  • Teaching: run your business with classmates as part of your degree (Student Enterprise Unit, New Enterprise Degrees)
  • On-line Resource Centre: online support with specific detailed start up content
  • Student Enterprise Club:a social student club offering seminars, workshops, visits and an online forum

The Centre not only helps both existing and former students by guiding innovative ideas and developing skills in business start up, self-employment, freelancing and consultancy. But also it offers an expanded range of educational and developmental workshps to enterpreneurs and help provide more education to business and industry.



Enterprise Challenge

Enterprise Challenge is an annual competition inviting all University of Portsmouth students to identify and develop an idea or different ideas that have commerical potential, with a prize pool of £15,000 each year. The competition is split into two stages and entrants can enter at either stage or both. Ideas can be based on a product or service. Portsmouth City Council sponsors the Enterprise Challenge as part of its commitment to support and encourage enterprise and innovation in the city. Information on details of the challenge, the past competitions and the coming one, please visit PCE website.
