Business & Innovation Centres
Last updated: 05 August 2011 09:30 UKPortsmouth City Council owns and manages three established enterprise centres that provide start-up units for office and industrial uses available on flexible terms. The aim is to help increase business start-up rates and provide a "first premises" solution for micro businesses.
In the 1980s the Portsmouth City Council built the Portsmouth Enterprise Centre, the first purpose built centre for start-up and micro-businesses in Europe. It also owns and manages Challenge Enterprise Centre (also purpose built) and Victory Business Centre (redeveloped business premises) to provide space for up to 130 start-up and small businesses. Please visit the Portsmouth Enterprise Centres website to get more information about these centres.
The latest purpose built centre, The Technopole innovation centre, opened in Spring 2002 and although it shares the same broad aims as the enterprise centres its focus is on encouraging high-technology companies to set up and grow.
In 2008 Regus established its Portsmouth operation at 1000 Lakeside North Harbour providing fully serviced offices and meeting rooms. Therefore in addition to the locally and regionally provided serviced office solutions there is now a global offer in Portsmouth. Visit the Regus website to find out more.
