Carers Strategy
Last updated: 26 March 2012 09:39 UKThe National Strategy Carers at the heart of 21st century families and communities was published in June 2008. This strategy is very important as it sets out how the government plans to improve support for carers over the next 10 years.
In November 2010 Recognised, valued and supported: next steps for the carers strategy was published. It details the coalition government's priorities for carers over the next four years.
Portsmouth launched its own Carers strategy in the summer of 2011. Progress on the strategy will be published on this page.
For more information about the carers strategy please email the carers strategy mailbox.
We will be involving carers in the implementation and development of the strategy through the carers strategy managment structure and the carers council. The carers council is run by Carers Together, a Hampshire based carer-led organisation and anyone currently living in Portsmouth providing unpaid care will be able to get involved.
If you are a carer and would like information on what support and information is available in Portsmouth, please visit the Portsmouth Carers Centre website.
