2006 Local air quality management - Updating & Screening Assessment Report
Executive summary
Local authorities are required from time to time to review and assess air quality within their areas. The next review is due at the end of 2006. This part of the process is the completion of the Updating and Screening Assessment set out in this report in accordance with technical guidance note LAQM TG(03) and the amended Updating And Screening Assessment Check lists.
This report has considered all the key air pollutants for which an objective for local authority actions has been set, namely, benzene, 1,3-butadiene, lead, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and particulate matter (PM10).
It was concluded that:
- No Detailed Assessment was required for benzene, 1,3-butadiene, lead, carbon monoxide, and sulphur dioxide.
- A Detailed Assessment is required for nitrogen dioxide for both Victoria Road North and for the area combining the City Centre North domain study and area covering Air Quality Management Area 11.
- A Detailed Assessment is required for PM10 for the area combining the City Centre North domain study and area covering Air Quality Management 11.
