Comment: I can understand the NHS promoting a ‘healthy’ lifestyle, but why a ‘sustainable’ lifestyle?

Response: The NHS is busy promoting sustainability as a way of life, for two reasons. First, we need to highlight the link between the changing climate and our health, so people will realise the importance of doing their bit. Second, the NHS is the biggest employer in the UK, with the largest property portfolio in Europe. So right across the NHS, plenty is being done to reduce the impact that the organisation has on the environment, with hospitals in particular leading by example to literally hundreds of thousands of staff, patients and visitors.
