Stakeholder and community engagement
We all have a role to play in securing the future of the city. We will work with both public and private businesses, voluntary organisations and residents, to make sure that this strategy works.
Proposed actions
- Information
We will produce a clear information infrastructure for everyone detailing where to go, what to do and how much difference your actions will make - Promotion
We will raise awareness on climate change issues and how people can live in a sustainable way while continuing to enjoy a good quality of life, we will promote smart energy metering for all major buildings in Portsmouth and enable residents to also install it - Culture change
Make wasting energy and living unsustainably as anti-social as drink driving, we will ensure that everyone in the city is aware of their responsibilities when it comes to living sustainably and that they can calculate their own carbon footprint and identify actions they can take to actively reduce it - Work with businesses
We will work with the Sustainable Business Partnership to encourage businesses to develop low carbon ways of working - Work in partnership
We will work with all major partners in the city through the Portsmouth Sustainability Action Group and the Local Strategic Partnership on a co-ordinated approach to tackling climate change in Portsmouth - Removing barriers
We will aim to gain the trust of the wider community by leading by example
