Prosecution details
On 08/05/2008 a man from Portsmouth was successfully prosecuted by Portsmouth City Council and the Department for Work and Pensions on three charges under Section 112(1A) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992. He had failed to declare to both departments that he had been working. This resulted in a Housing Benefit overpayment of £3271.06, a Council Tax Benefit overpayment of £231.50, and an Income Support overpayment of £4156.57. He was given a Community Punishment Order and ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work over 12 months.
