Paying for care

There is often a charge for social care that is based on the service you receive. That’s why we carry out a financial assessment, to see what you can afford and to make sure you are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to.

If you are assessed and we find you need services from social care, our financial assessments and benefits team will visit you at home and work out how much you will need to pay. They will be able to answer any questions you might have, offer advice about benefits and help you to fill in any forms, to make the whole process easier for you.

Personalised budgets put you in control

If you are eligible for support, you could choose to use a system called personalised budgets. This means we will still assess the care you need but we will give the funding for your care directly to you.

With personalised budgets, you can arrange and pay for your care yourself, and you can choose who provides that care.

If you are worried about being involved in organising your care, we can arrange it for you. Whatever you choose, you are in control and we have a team of support workers to help you through every step of the process. For more information about personalised budgets call the adult social care helpdesk on 023 9268 0810.
