Helping you to live independently
Our aim is to help people who need social care to continue to live as independently as possible for as long as possible. We have been talking to the people who use our services and we know this is what most people want.
There are many ways we can help people to continue to live independently.
We can offer care in the home either directly through our Independent Living Service, or through independent care agencies. We can provide drop-in support and day services for people with all kinds of needs, including mental health or substance misuse problems, physical or learning disabilities, and dementia. We can help people relearn the skills and confidence to live independently, either through specialised home care or through the Victory Unit, which offers short stays for those who could benefit from rehabilitation.
Occupational therapy can help make your home easier for you to live in and, when managing in your current home becomes too much, you could consider ‘extra care’ or sheltered housing.
There is information available through the British Red Cross.
Stroke information for the Portsmouth area is available from Pompey Strokes.
