Residential and nursing care

Gentleman being assisted in drinking a cup of tea We know that managing at home can become difficult for some people, perhaps because of a physical or learning disability, or because of increasing age and frailty.

We provide a range of services to enable you, or someone you care about, to continue to live independently at home, in familiar surroundings and as part of the community, for as long as possible.

If managing at your existing home becomes too difficult, we will help you to find the most suitable residential care home or nursing home, whether that is in one of our residential care homes or a homes.

If you think you need to move into residential care, contact our adult social care helpdesk on 023 9268 0810 for more information and to arrange a care assessment.

We have five residential homes for older people (65+) and two residential homes for adults (18+) with physical and learning disabilities. There are also a number of private residential homes, both in and out of the city.

If you have been assessed and you need residential care, your social worker or care manager will help you to find a place in either a city council or private home that is most suitable for you, making sure your needs are met.  If you have been assessed and you need nursing care, your social worker or care manager will help you find a suitable place in a private nursing home because the city council does not have any nursing homes.
