A loan shark is an unlicensed money lender.

They will often charge high interest and use intimidation and violence to get the money back from their clients. Any information you have regarding loan shark activities we want to know.

Loan shark lending is a crime - don't be a victim, we can help you.

• Have you or anyone you know been offered a cash loan?
• Have you received threats if you cannot pay back the loan?
• Has your bank card been taken from you as 'security'?
• Does the amount you owe keep increasing even though you are making payments?

Call us on 023 9236 1122 or send a text to 60003, start it with the words "loan shark" and then add your message. You can also contact us by email at stoploansharks@birmingham.gov.uk.

Although the Illegal Money Lending Team is based in Birmingham, there are officers that cover the south east so you will be put in touch with a team in your area.
