The Portsmouth City Local Plan was adopted on 21 July 2006. Here is the notice of adoption. Notice of Adoption for the Replacement of a Local Plan (pdf 0.01mb)
The review process - We are required by law to prepare a local plan for the city. The local plan shows where new building will take place and which parts of the city will be protected from development. It is used by the City Council to make decisions on planning applications. A local plan lasts for 10 years. The previous plan ran up to 2001 and was reviewed to keep its policies up to date and to cover the period to 2011.
First Deposit Draft - was the first version of the replacement Local Plan and was placed "on deposit" for 6 weeks in February 2001. During this time, interested parties were able to make representations in support of or objecting to the content of the plan.
Revised Deposit Draft 2002 - was prepared following discussions with respondents to the First Deposit Draft and was on deposit until 27th May 2002. They can be viewed via the link below.
Proposed Modifications were published in July 2004, following a Public Local Inquiry. Those modifications have now been withdrawn and replaced by proposed modifications published on 12 August 2005. This was necessary in order to correct a procedural irregularity in the way in which the proposed modifications were published in 2004, to allow for changes to the affordable housing policy, and to make other updating changes and corrections in response to objections and new government guidance.
Further Proposed Modifications 2006 and Notice of Intention to Adopt. Following the second local plan inquiry in January 2006 further modifications to the plan were placed on deposit from 13 April until 25 May 2006. We received two objections to the further proposed modifications but did not make any changes in relation to the objections.
