Historic Dockyard Car Park

This brief was approved by the City Council's Executive Member for Planning, Regeneration and Economic Development on 17 September 2002 and by the full Executive on 19 September 2002.

Purpose

1.1 This brief is intended to give prospective developers planning guidance on the future development of the existing Historic Dockyard car and coach park and associated buildings at Queen Street, Portsea.

1.2 The owner of the site, the Portsmouth Naval Base Property Trust (PNBPT), wishes to secure a comprehensive redevelopment of the site. The redevelopment would include development for its own purposes, namely a multi level car park for visitors to the Historic Dockyard as a replacement of the existing surface level car park. The remainder of the redevelopment would be private development for other purposes, the value of which would assist the funding of the Trust's own elements and its ongoing work in the Historic Dockyard.
