Conservation Area 23 - Portsea

Curzon Howe Road, Portsea Portsea developed as a suburb to serve the Dockyard in the 18th century.

This conservation area includes many of the historic parts of Portsea:

  • georgian buildings in Queen Street,
  • Treadgolds in Bishop Street,
  • the Beneficial School of 1784
  • early council housing in Curzon Howe Road, built in 1912.
