Healthy Harvey

Healthy Harvey is the new face of healthy eating for Portsmouth's residents. The fun green character with stripy arms and legs equipped with funky lunchbox and shoes will help the Food and Health Group promote a healthier diet and increase children and adults general knowledge about healthy foods through active participation.

Harvey and friends (Ali Apple, Percy Potato, Betty Banana, Casper Carrot, Olivia Orange, Tommy Tomato, Manju Mango, Ling Ling Lychee) are ready to provide fun activities and sessions to improve health in Portsmouth and to support the Healthy Schools Programme.

We said goodbye to the old healthy eating character "Smiley" and hello to "Harvey" in July 2003 after pupils from eight primary schools in Portsmouth entered the competition to name the character and to design healthy slogans for him to say. Five children were congratulated with certificates to name the character and for designing the healthy slogans

"You are what you eat from your head to your feet!"

"Hey dude, eat fruit!"

"Think healthy, eat healthy, be healthy!"
