No 5 Economy: People and jobs
The City Council commissioned the University of Portsmouth to write this report as part of the review of the City Local Plan.It provides an assessment of the current situation, including forecasts of the economy based upon labour market data supplied by Hampshire County Council and sets out a limited number of economic priorities and objectives for the City (and its associated travel-to-work area) that follow-on from, and are consistent with, the contents of the recent Towards a Vision for Urban South Hampshire and Its Cities (hereafter referred to as the Vision document).1
This report concentrates on the South East Hampshire sub-region and provides evidence and analysis that is relevant to this area. It does not contain a 'blueprint' of policy prescriptions, but analyses the local economy in order to provide detailed information for reviewing the City's Local Plan.
