11. Conclusion and Appendix A

Data shows different types of movement in the Portsmouth with longer distance journeys being made predominantly by car and rail, local journeys within the city indicating encouraging levels of walking and cycling but a smaller mode share by bus than might be expected.

On Portsea Island, the geographical constraints present different challenges with ferries, walking and cycling trips being more in evidence than elsewhere.

There is a strong corridor for movement on the western side of Portea Island with a major focus on the city centre and Gunwharf.
