Homecheck
We carry out free home safety inspections and give advice and help to make your home safer to live in.
This service is for
- People over 60 years of age
- Households with a child under five years old
- People with physical disabilities
You can be a homeowner, council tenant, or a tenant of a private or registered social landlord.
What we do
- We visit your home to check for hazards
- We carry out minor repairs such as fixing loose carpet, and replacing leads and plugs on irons and fires
- We raise electric wall sockets to help you reach them
- We supply and fit a range of safety devices such as stair-gates and door locks - mostly free of charge
- We fit lever taps for people with disabilities
- We also fit grab-rails, chair-raisers, stair-rails and key safes - a fee is charged for these jobs
