Right to buy
Right to Buy is a government scheme that allows council tenants to purchase the property they rent from us. Tenants who are eligible will be able to buy their property at a lower price than the full market value.Who can buy their council property?
If you are a secure tenant and have held a public sector tenancy for five years or more, you may be able to purchase the property you live in.
Who cannot buy?
- A tenant who has a service tenancy in connection with their job
- A sheltered housing tenant
- A tenant whose home has been adapted or is particularly suitable for use by the disabled or elderly
- If a court makes a possession order against you, or if you are undischarged bankrupt
