Reducing Crime Through Design SPD

Crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour can have negative impacts upon community well being and the quality of life and can also threaten the success and vitality of town centres and employment areas by hindering economic growth.

Promoting good design and layout in new developments is one of the most important ways in which we can address community safety issues.Good design and layout can make crimes more difficult to commit, increase the likelihood of detection and improve public perceptions of safety.

Below are links to the SPD which was adopted on 6 March 2006.
