Summary of Recent Licence Applications

LICENSING ACT 2003 – APPLICATIONS RECEIVED BY THE LICENSING AUTHORITY

The Licensing Authority has received the following applications in accordance with the Licensing Act 2003 (“the Act”).  The tables in the documents below outline the premises location, a brief description of the application and the closing date by which responsible authorities or interested parties may make relevant representations.  An interested party is defined by the Act as:

  • A person living in the vicinity of the premises;
  • A body representing persons who live in that vicinity;
  • A person involved in a business in that vicinity;
  • A body representing persons involved in such businesses.

Any representations made by an interested party as outlined above must be relevant to the four licensing objectives set down by the Act and should demonstrate the likely effects upon the promotion of these objectives should the application be granted.

The four licensing objectives are:

  • The prevention of crime and disorder;
  • Public Safety;
  • Prevention of public nuisance; and
  • The protection of children from harm.

Any responsible authority or interested party wishing to make representations on any application must submit those representations in writing to the Licensing Manager, Licensing Section, Legal & Democratic Services, Civic Offices, Guildhall Square, Portsmouth, PO1 2AL by no later than the closing date outlined for that particular application.  Representations received after that date will not be able to be considered by the Licensing Authority.  Alternatively, written representations may also be made by email to: Licensing@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or by fax on 023 9283 4811.

Please note that if you make representations by electronic means, the Act requires a hard copy must also be sent to the Licensing Authority at the address shown above..

ANY REPRESENTATIONS WILL BE NOTIFIED TO THE APPLICANT AND WILL BE CONSIDERED BY THE LICENSING AUTHORITY.

A copy of the statutory register may be inspected during normal office hours at the address outlined above.
