Healthy Schools

The Road Safety Team are working closely with officers from the National Healthy Schools Standard in Portsmouth. This partnership supports schools in creating a safe, enjoyable, and productive learning environment to minimise potential health risks. It includes eight areas of activity: PSHE, Citizenship, Drug Education, Emotional Health, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity, Sex and Relationships, and Safety.

The partnership allows all members of a school – teachers, parents, governors, and pupils – to inform the Road Safety Team about what they consider to be the main road safety issues around their school, and importantly, allows everyone to suggest ways in which we can design road safety improvements around the school. Many schools are combining their School Travel Plan with several areas of the Healthy Schools Standard.
