As of January 2001, under the 2001 Transport Act, Lollipop people can stop traffic to help anyone cross the road safely. The law states that as soon as a Patrol raises their sign, even if they have not stepped into the road, drivers must stop. If drivers fail to stop they could be liable to pay a £1000 fine and receive 3 points on thier driving licence.
If you enjoy meeting people, and would like to play an active part in the community, please contact Sue McDermott, School Crossing Patrol Co-ordinator on 023 9284 1155.
