WoW - Walk Once a Week

On Thursday 18 September the Road Safety and Sustainable Travel Team relaunched the WoW scheme.

Back in 2005 St. Swithun's School launched Walk on Wednesdays and now Charles Dickens Infants and Juniors will be launching the newly named "Walk Once a Week," or WoW for short.

The WoW scheme follows on from the success of the Walk to School Week by encouraging more children and parents to walk to school on a regular basis throughout the entire year.  Charles Dickens schools hosted the Road Safety and Sustainable Travel Team who took their year 1 pupils out for child pedestrian training and trained their year 4s in judging distances. The launch received local press coverage from The News and The Quay radio station.

Since the launch, 25 primary schools have signed up to this year's scheme. If your school would like to join then please contact roadsafety@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or call 023 9268 8262 for more details.

This year's Road Safety Education Programmes at Primary and Secondary Levels are available for downloading below.
