Biggest community safety conference in UK’s history will be held in Portsmouth

Portsmouth will host a three-day National Convention for Safer Communities conference this month, organised by the National Community Safety Network and supported by the Home Office.  It is designed for anyone who works to make local areas safe, clean and crime free. Over 500 delegates are expected to be involved during the convention, which will be held in the Guildhall from June 13 to 15.

Although not confirmed yet, the Home Secretary John Reid, MP is expected to do the opening speech on the first day of the conference.

The convention itself will enable delegates to choose what kind of workshops, mini-conferences and study tours they attend throughout the three days. The subjects will include neighbourhood policing, antisocial behaviour, preventing young offending, CCTV, community wardens and domestic violence.

As a city now used to holding huge events, following Trafalgar 200, the Safer Portsmouth Partnership and our community safety team are pleased to be supporting this important learning and networking opportunity for staff in the city and around the country.

Other key speakers are expected to be Zoe Billingham, Director of the Audit Commission and Bryony Rudkin, Chair of the Safer Communities Board.

You can visit the conference web site for more information about attending the event, prices and accommodation.
