Family Link Scheme
As a Family Link carer you will provide flexible respite care for a child with disabilities and their family, up to a maximum of 48 hours each month. This allows parents to have a regular break from looking after their disabled child, whilst also providing opportunities for the child to develop and experience new activities and friendships.
Person specification
You will need to have a genuine interest in providing short-term care for a child with disabilities within your own home. You will be required to undergo a formal assessment process. Although experience is desirable, it is not essential as the Family Link team provides training. Continued training after approval is offered with an expectation to attend relevant courses. If approved, you will obtain Level 2 Foster Care status and continue to be supported by a Family Link social worker.
Fee
Although you will not be paid a wage, expenses will be made for each respite session provided.
