Domestic Violence Best Practice Guide
The Portsmouth Domestic Violence Forum believes that everyone has the same right to the highest standard of service. The Domestic Violence Best Practice Guide has been developed as a positive action to apply across all relevant agencies, statutory and voluntary. It represents current best practice in domestic violence work and it aims to provide senior managers, policy makers and practitioners with a clear set of achievable indicators.
The Guide includes eleven dimensions of Best Practice which together form a comprehensive whole and therefore it is recommended that they are considered jointly. However it is only a starting point for agencies. These eleven dimensions are:
- Definitions of Domestic Violence
- Monitoring and Screening Process
- Policies and Guidelines
- Safety Planning
- Training
- Evaluation
- Multi Agency Integration
- Working with Women and Children
- Working with Perpetrators
- Current Legislation
- Useful Websites and Literature
The Guide also contains a section for you to put your own agencies guidelines and some sections that contain a comprehensive list of useful contacts and numbers. (Note these are mainly for the Portsmouth area only)
The Best Practice Guide costs £50. To order a copy please contact Lyn Ayres on 023 9284 1054.
