Freedom of Information (FoI)
Freedom of Information (FoI) gives anyone the "right to know" about any information held by public bodies, including us.
You have the right to be told if we hold the information you want and, if we do, to be given a copy of it.
There are some legal exemptions to this and you might be required to pay a fee.
We have always always been committed to openness. It increases public confidence in our ability to deliver our services and to lead the city. You can still get information from us in the same ways you have used in the past. But in addition, now you can:
- search our FoI publication scheme, which has a wide range of information that doesn't need an FOI request
- search the A-Z of our services
- request data about yourself, under the Data Protection Act you can make a subject access request
- request environmental information, such as about air and atmosphere, water, soil, land and landscapes with a request under the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
- request informationn under FoI
- request information under the Re-Use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005
