2011 AV referendum results - Portsmouth
Last updated: 30 November 2011 10:19 UKThe referendum on the UK Parliamentary voting system was held on Thursday 4 May 2011. The referendum asked the following question:
"At present, the UK uses the 'first past the post' system to elect MPs to the House of Commons. Should the 'alternative vote' system be used instead?"
The results of the AV referendum in the Portsmouth voting area were:
Number of votes cast: 51,375
Number of votes cast in favour of YES: 16,577
Number of votes cast in favour of NO: 34,490
