Design Group

The Design Group plays an important role in the success of Portsmouth. By maintaining, improving and developing our city, quality housing, schooling, good lighting and safe play areas for the young we make the city a safer place for both residents and visitors to our area.

Our progress as a major city centre is important, recent projects such as Gunwharf Quays and the Arundel Street refurbishment have raised our city’s profile and shown that Portsmouth has a lot to offer. By improving the surrounding landscape & visual identity of the city we can attract more visitors to our exhibits, more families to our beaches, more shoppers to our areas & provide more jobs for our residents, thus improving the economic growth of Portsmouth and ensuring our place as a city to be proud of.

Our vision of Portsmouth is a collective progression, pushed forward by not just the staff, but also through the thoughts, concerns, ideas and inspirations of the general public. We have achieved so much through community workshops, sharing with the public an opportunity, working together to build a brighter, more vibrant city for the Portsmouth of tomorrow.

As a team we are dedicated to improving the quality of the environment around us, always seeking new, innovative and cost effective ways to make our surroundings a better place visually, whilst making sure the environmental impact is kept to a minimum. The Design Team provide a vital element in giving the community a sense of pride in their  surroundings. By redeveloping and maintaining areas that need attention we raise community morale and give our residents a place to live in worth looking after, making them feel secure both in their homes and in the knowledge that their council is doing it’s best to look after them.
